The North Field Runways (10L‑28R and 10R‑28L) are important secondary runways that support high‑performance jet operations at Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK). Connected by Taxiway Bravo, they provide critical backup capacity when the primary South Field Runway (12‑30) is unavailable due to maintenance or construction and help maintain safe separation between different aircraft types.
Recent inspections have identified areas on Taxiway Bravo and Runway 10R‑28L that require corrective pavement striping repairs.
The Project Team has carefully coordinated construction planning to minimize impacts on airfield operations and surrounding communities. This effort has included detailed phasing, sequencing, and identifying efficient work within designated closure windows.
During construction, some normal flight operations may be adjusted. This could result in increased jet arrivals and departures on the North Field. As a result, aircraft may operate over residential areas where they are not typically heard, and residents may notice temporary increases in aircraft noise.
